This week’s New Favorite Poet is: Dorothea Tanning

"Birthday"

This week’s new favorite poet is an amazing woman! She began life as a celebrated surrealist painter (see her beautiful work, “Birthday”, above) who was married to the artist Max Ernst for 30 years. She is now 101 years old (yes, 101!) and a poet of deft skill and salient observations. Her poem Sequestrienne has imagery that much of her poetic work contains, that of a life well-lived that is nearing its spectacular conclusion.
