This week’s New Favorite Poet is: Valzhyna Mort

This week’s new favorite poet (apart from having a lovely, poetic name) writes beautifully, composes her poems in Belarusian first, which then translated, makes for sparkling verse! The section from the poem Mocking Bird Hotel, that begins with “Stirred up…” and ends with “…the waiter’s clean hands.” is dramatic, vivid and a perfect example of this.
